Not as planned

I had plans this weekend.  I had plans for a photography shoot yesterday. Those got rescheduled because my clients were sick. I had plans to take pictures of the girls in their matching Christmas dresses. Then Livie got crabby and fell asleep right at the perfect lighting time outside SO those didn’t happen. I had plans of sleeping last night but Livie woke up at 2:30 and didn’t go back to sleep til 5. Needless to say, to say that I’m in a zombie state today is an understatement. BUT 2 of my plans for this weekend did happen. 1. Take pictures of my girls just hanging around. I do this a lot anyway but I need to start doing it more. There are never too many pictures of your children.

2. Decorate for Christmas. I realize it’s only mid November. But I have an explanation for this. This coming weekend we’ll be busy doing dance stuff with Hannah. Next weekend, Thanksgiving weekend when we USUALLY decorate we’ll be in Ohio visiting family. The weekend after that which to me is late anyway would have MAYBE worked except that Hannah’s birthday party is that weekend and we’ll be tied up with that with no time to decorate. Any weekend after that is mid December which is entirely too late. So you see, this was the only weekend I had free to decorate. And since I love Christmas, this was ok with me!

Hubs said I should just take his stocking down to take that picture but I said nah. It’s much more fun to put fake reindeer faces on his stocking instead! I’m not forgetting about Thanksgiving. Not at all. I just think Thanksgiving is pretty with Christmas stuff up. I live for fried turkey every year. Believe me. Thanksgiving is still here. But so is Christmas. They’re sharing this year :)

  • Cute kids! As for xmas decorations, yikes, I feel behind! My neighbor has lights on his house already. I’ll get at it after turkey day. Gobble gobble.

  • Great post. Isn’t this what parenthood is all about – things not going at all how we plan them? I love the gorgeous pictures of your girls and I think the casual pictures are always the best. And I am writing this while listening to Christmas music so I am all for the early decorating. I particularly love the metaphor of the two holidays sharing. Isn’t his what we are supposed to be teaching our kids anyway, how to share? Oh, and the faux reindeer and fried turkey? Love ‘em. This post put me in a happy mood. Thanks.
